This is to raise your rankings in search engines and for the people searching. Remember, everything should be as relevant as possible to the content. There are so many nuggets of information; I would like to share some more: Search engines and People prefer descriptive URLs; rather than URLs that end with random letters and numbers. Newer versions of WordPress automatically change this for you, or you can adjust the permalinks. For full details, refer to the chapter in the book.
Also, check the visibility of your web pages; if you type in your website name and repeat with www before your site name, it should redirect to the same URL; otherwise, you are likely to be penalized by search engines for duplicate content as it looks as though you are spamming with pages duplicated. Your post slugs should be short and snappy, brief and to the point, for the benefit of search engines and people searching. If you have a WordPress website, reducing the slug size when creating a new page is simple. There is an edit button at the top of the page, which you can use to alter the slug, putting back the hyphens between the words you choose. So instead of the automatic trail of a page description, you can edit the slug to a very relevant couple of words. Click OK, and you will have a much more friendly page title.
